Dr. Allan Roy Dafoe, world famous country doctor to the Dionne Quintuplets, had his residence and practice in the museum's eight-room, beautifully maintained building from 1914 to 1943. The museum's collection, which includes Dr. Dafoe's original dispensary, outlines the life of this well-known doctor. In addition to the extensive Dr. Dafoe and Dionne Quint collection available to browse through, the museum also features Callander area's shipping, logging, first barber shop, and Red Cross Nursing artifacts and records, which will delight any history enthusiast. Our gallery is named in honour of Alex Dufresne, founder and first Chair of the Board of the Callander Bay Heritage Museum. The Alex Dufresne Gallery features six exhibitions each year that highlight the talents of local artists.
The museum is located 15 minutes south of North Bay at 107 Lansdowne Street in Callander.
