Museum House

Throughout the rooms in the Museum House you will discover a variety of displays featuring railroad memorabilia and equipment; mining, lumbering and railroad photograph collections and historical items that pay tribute to our Norhtern Ontario heritage.

6077 Steam Engine

The 6077 "mountain" type steam engine, affectionately called the "Bullet-Nosed Betty", proudly sits in Prescott Park. The Park was created and dedicated in memory of Harold Prescott, a former mayor of Capreol, whose dream was to have this steam engine donated to the town. Other railroad equipment and memorabilia are also located in the Park.

Caboose

This wooden caboose, painted "Morency Orange", was built in 1899 likely as a box car and is 4 feet longer than the standard CNR wood-sheathed caboose. You can rent this caboose for small birthday parties!

Rules Car

This "CNR Rules Instruction Car #15019" is also situated in Prescott Park. Set up as a school room in one half and living quarters for the instructor in the other half, it was originally built as a 10-2 sleeper car.

Frank Dennie

Frank Dennie has been credited for having Capreol become a railroad divisional point that included shops, a roundhouse and other railroad buildings. Local history of Capreol and Area, plus information on the Sloman family, "School on Wheels" and the towns of Sellwood and Milnet can be found at the Museum House.

Gift Shop

You'll find our Gift Shop in the lobby of the Museum House. A variety of videos, bookds, t-shirts, photgraphs, hats, pins, stamps and many other items are available to purchase.
