The Little Schoolhouse and Museum

The main museum building houses artefacts from the township highlighting early pioneer life and the fishing and logging community.

S S # 4 Tehkummah

The little schoolhouse was built in 1891 as a union church. It served a dual purpose until the village church was constructed when it then became a full time classroom operating until 1962.

Reminiscent of 1940's classroom

Inside the schoolhouse artefacts bring back memories of schooldays in a one-room school.

Explore the early community life

Visitors are welcome to view photo albums and wall displays reflecting the family history of Tehkummah Township.

The work and dedication of the pioneers

Short articles or audio presentations indicating the artefacts use and previous owner accompany tools and household artefacts.

The fishing industry

The Fisheries building holds artefacts mainly from the Ontario Ministry Of Natural Resources Research Station, which operated on South Bay for about 50 years.
